What is bloatware?
“Bloatware” is a term that applies to many different types of applications with one common trait: they’re unnecessary. These can be:
Toolbars: Many applications install additional toolbars that clutter up your browser, show you annoying ads, and provide little helpful functionality.
Adware: These applications have no other purpose than to serve you ads. Adware also includes annoying shortcuts to commercial websites that are placed on your desktop.
Trials: Short-term try-before-you-buy versions of programs you might not need and definitely haven’t asked for.
Even though PC manufacturers have reduced the amount of preinstalled programs on their machines, there’s still a lot of room for improvement. Nowadays, many software companies and download portals add bloatware to their own downloads. As you’re installing the software you want, it’ll install additional programs, such as toolbars or trial versions of other programs.
How can bloatware impact your computer?
Bloatware comes in many forms, and its impact on PC performance can vary from negligible to severe. It clog up your machine and consume valuable resources, evening causing 100% disk usage in Windows 10. It can also inundate your browser with ads and, worse, even spy on you or introduce other security risks. Bloatware has no right to be on anyone's PC. Thankfully, you can clean it out easily with AVG TuneUp's dedicated bloatware removal tool.
AVG TuneUp’s Software Cleanup scans your computer from top to bottom for bloatware and removes it, freeing up both space and resources.
