You can use an AVG utility to view hidden files and folders:

  • Click this link to download the AVG service utility to your computer (we recommend saving it to your Desktop).
  • Double-click the utility to launch it.
  • Click Show hidden files or Hide hidden files depending on which action you want to perform.

Alternatively, you can enable or disable viewing of hidden files and folders manually.

Windows XP

  1. Open menu Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Folder options.
  2. Switch to the View tab and enable the option Show hidden files and folders.

Windows Vista/7

  1. Open menu Start -> Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Folder options.
  2. Click on the View tab and enable the option Show hidden files and folders.

Windows 8

  1. Right-click in the bottom-right corner of the screen, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Appearance and Personalization, and then click Show hidden files and folders.
  3. Select Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.
