Internet Explorer

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Click 'Tools' on the top menu, and then click on 'Manage Add-ons'.
  3. In the opened window, click on 'AVG Security Toolbar', and then click on 'Disable' at the bottom right corner.
  4. Click on the next line – 'AVG Safe Search', and the click on 'Disable' at the bottom right corner.
  5. Click on the ‘Search Providers’ line on the left.
  6. On the right side, click on the preferred search provider, and then click on the ‘Set as default’ button at the bottom right corner.
  7. Click on the ‘Close’ button.
  8. Click on 'Tools', 'Internet Options', the 'General' tab, the 'Use Default' button, and then on 'OK'.
  9. Open a new tab, click on 'Settings' on the bottom right corner, uncheck the box, and click on 'Ok'.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Mozilla Firefox
  2. Click on 'Tools' -> 'Add-Ons' -> ‘Extensions’ -> Click on ‘Disable’ next to ‘AVG Security Toolbar’
  3. Go to the search box at the top right-hand side of the browser and use the arrow to select your preferred search engine
  4. In the address-bar type: ‘about:config’ and press ENTER (If asked, confirm that you want to continue to the settings page)
  5. In the lower search field type: ‘browser.search.defaultenginename’, click enter, and then right click on ‘browser.search.defaultenginename’ under ‘Preference Name’ and choose 'Reset'.
  6. In the lower search field type: ‘browser.search.searchEnginesURL’ then right click on ‘browser.search.searchEnginesURL’ under ‘Preference Name’ and choose 'Reset'.
  7. In the search field type: ‘keyword.URL’ then right click on keyword.URL under ‘Preference Name’ and choose 'Reset'.
  8. Click on 'Tools', 'Option', 'General', 'Restore to Default', 'Ok'.

Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Click on 'Tools' (the wrench icon)
  3. Click on 'Settings'
  4. Locate the ‘Home page’ section, and choose ‘Use the New Tab page’.
  5. Locate the 'Search' section, and choose your preferred search provider.
  6. Close Chrome.
