AVG contains a feature that checks your computer's date. This is necessary for correct update functionality. In case a discrepancy is detected, the following message is displayed:

"Your computer system time seems to be inaccurate. This may lead to false virus database up-to-date reporting. Please correct your system time if possible."

To fix your computer date and time, proceed as follows.

Windows 7, Windows Vista:

  1. Open menu Start -> Control Panel -> Clock, Language, and Region -> Date and Time.
  2. Click Change time zone.
  3. Select correct time zone and click OK.
  4. Click Change date and time.
  5. Select the correct date and time and click OK.
  6. Click OK to confirm.

Windows XP:

  1. Open menu Start -> (Settings) -> Control Panel -> Date and Time.
  2. Switch to Time Zone and select the correct time zone.
  3. Switch back to Date & Time and select the correct date and time.
  4. Click OK to confirm.

Note: In some unique cases, the mentioned message can be displayed even when your computer date and time is correct. In such a case, you can disable this check in AVG the following way:

  1. Open your AVG program.
  2. In the menu Options, click Advanced settings.
  3. In the left pane, select Update.
  4. In the section Additional update options, clear (uncheck) the option Check computer time.
  5. Click OK to save the settings.
