Generally, programs can be uninstalled from the Windows Control Panel. To uninstall the conflicting program, please proceed as follows:

Windows Vista or Windows 7

  1. Open menu Start -> (Settings) -> Control Panel.
  2. Click Programs and features.
  3. From the list of the installed programs, select the program that you wish to uninstall.
  4. Click Uninstall.
  5. After uninstallation of the program, restart your computer.

Windows 8

  1. On the Start screen, right-click the application you wish to uninstall.
Tip: If the application is not on the Start screen, right-click on an empty space on the screen, and then click All apps on the bottom bar.
  2. Click Uninstall on the bottom bar.
  3. From the list of the installed programs, select the program that you wish to uninstall.
  4. Click Uninstall.
  5. After uninstallation of the program, restart your computer.

Windows XP

  1. Open menu Start -> (Settings) -> Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. From the list of the installed programs, select the program that you wish to uninstall.
  4. Click Remove.
  5. After uninstallation of the program, restart your computer.

When the conflicting application is removed, you can install AVG on your computer. Steps to install AVG are described in the article FAQ 5000 - "How to download and install AVG".

Note: If you encounter any issues uninstalling a conflicting program, we recommend using a dedicated removal utility or instructions designed specifically for each program:

After using the uninstallation utility or following the removal instructions, restart your computer and then install AVG.
