When attempting to access websites containing active threats, AVG LinkScanner will prevent such website from displaying in your web browser.

This situation arises when the page you are trying to access has been identified as a known exploit, phishing, or social engineering web site and therefore has been blocked for your safety. Without protection, such as that in the AVG Security Toolbar and AVG, your computer is at risk of being compromised, corrupted or having your identity stolen.

The following warning is displayed in such situation:

Danger: Search-Shield has detected active threats on this page and has blocked access for your protection.

We strongly recommend that you click the “Back” button on your browser to return to the previous page and choose another link.

If you would like to ignore the warning and continue to the page, it is necessary to disable AVG Surf-Shield as follows:

  1. Open the AVG program.
  2. Click LinkScanner.
  3. Clear (untick) the item Enable Surf-Shield.
  4. Click Save changes.

Note: AVG will continue to block dangerous content associated with this page.

Remember to re-activate the AVG Surf-Shield as soon as the reason for the deactivation passes.
