2869 - My computer is infected. What do I do now?

If you suspect that your computer is infected or when AVG cannot remove infected files from your computer, we recommend to perform following steps.

1. Apply all the available patches for your MS Windows Operating System. You can install the updates from the following website:
http://www.windowsupdate.com

2. Update your AVG using the Update now button in the program.

3. Enable the Scan files on close feature in AVG Resident Shield to increase the system protection:
open AVG program -> choose "Advanced settings" from the "Tools" menu -> select "Resident Shield" from the left tree menu -> tick the "Scan files on close" checkbox and confirm by clicking the "OK" button.

4. Restart your computer.

5. Open AVG, and then click Scan now.
