I`ve got exactly the same problem, same version of XP, same version of AVG .. Hassles started with 2011 when I had to disable the LinkScanner as after an update it was stopping me accessing websites properly, even Google`s search engine and now (after 20th June) having to update manually due to this hanging issue when updating .
I never had any problems with any previous versions of AVG such as 8, 9 etc . I`m not all that secure about installing Beta software (I`ll wait till its a full version) but really hope that 2012 fixes all the issues of 2011
AVG Free 2011 winXP64 update hangs forever on "Analyzing Updates"
Seems like a lot of us XP64 users are in the same boat. I tried doing a manual update by downloading the virus files and update from folder and it said it did it was successful, but the program still says "Anti virus and Anti Spyware are out of date."
Is this going to be fixed in 2011 or do we have to go to the beta 2012?
same here - issue not fixed, still hanging at the same place and I've got no infections present and as Big Al said, they didn't claim to fix it in the update information (though WHY is a mystery, it`s a pretty pivotal part of the program) ....
I know it's only the Free version and only an old OS but I hope they are working on it. I wish I could Roll back to the Jun8th version which worked OK, the update which introduced the issue didn't fix anything relevant to most anyway from what I can see.
