The only cure (workaround) I've found is to F8 into advanced boot options & disable the driver checker. BUT you have to do it every time you start your machine. Just not feaseable. It seems that the standard answer for most avg 2012 problems is to update to 2013. I've been using avg (paid) for several years & have never had any issues w/it besides a rare false positive.
