The scan results, are display as follows: Files scanned : 3(3) Infections found : 2(2) PUPs found : 0 Files healed : 0 Warnings reported : 0 Errors reported : 0 My question is what is the meaning of parentheses? And on another note, avgscan ignores (by default) .zip files? What if there is a zipped malware file? This will escape the scan process? Thanks Scan of archives is not enabled by default. Option "-a" or "--arc" is for scan of archives - see man page ...

I just created the login to say thank you. This post finally worked. I cannot believe how awful AVG is. And they call themselves anti-virus. They act like a virus themselves.

I've been using AVG Free for several years and am currently at version 9.0.932. Recently I've noticed that, in addition to reporting no viruses, it finds no tracking cookies. I run the program manually once a week and it used to always find at least half a dozen tracking cookies, but now, zilch. _malchys_, Are you saying that my AVG is not fully up to date, since I didn’t do a full update? It reports that the virus definitions are up to date. The download page for full updates for the free versions (http://free.avg.com/ww-en/download-update) only has version 6xxx of the virus definitions, and doesn’t say anything about different program versions. Hence it would seem that I can’t download a full virus definitions file for program versions before AVG 2013. Or am I missing something ...

IE8 & OE Freeze Due To AVG Safe Search

My PC has gone haywire. Links in Outlook Express stopped working. OE itself freezes up and so does Internet Explorer.Microsoft fixed it by disabling AVG Safe Search and tell me that there is a problem about AVG Safe Search. Does this mean my AVG is now incompatible with OE and IE? It has caused a real problem at this end.

Hi Hirnsausen, I've found other AntiVirus/Security softwares running on your computer. It's recommended to have just one security software running to prevent possible conflicts. Please uninstall Lavasoft Ad-Aware and ZoneAlarm and let me know the results. Thanks. [signature]

Hi aardvark_65, I'm glad to hear that the original issue is fixed now. Perhaps full updates shouldn't be used when the installer has very old virus definitions (> 1 year old in this case) included? Full updates are required in this case. Installation file is not updated because AVG 9.0 is quite old product and it's recommended to use the latest version (AVG 2013) if possible. However, when I was doing full updates before I reinstalled, the version was up to 3164.1.1/6317, from a full ...

avg search jacking.. AVG was being flagged as malware by other virus scans and now I see why. I have now uninstalled and refuse to ever use this malware again. Overriding common default user settings without asking for explicit and obvious clarification can be classified as nothing else.
