GRISOFT Expands its AVG Security Solutions for GNU/Linux and FreeBSD Platforms

Addresses business needs of protecting open source systems without affecting performance

Millburn, N.J. - November 20, 2006 – GRISOFT, the developer of AVG security software, today announced several new versions of its antivirus offerings for GNU/Linux and FreeBSD open source platforms. The products include AVG Email Server Edition 7.5 for Linux/FreeBSD now with integrated anti-spam as well as new products for the GNU/Linux platform – AVG Anti-Virus Professional Edition 7.5 for Linux/FreeBSD and AVG File Server Edition 7.5 for Linux/FreeBSD. This release strengthens GRISOFT's comittment to alternative operating systems including support for FreeBSD.

“Small businesses are using alternative operating systems like GNU/Linux and FreeBSD for e-mail, web and file server applications along with Windows-based workstations,” said Larry Bridwell, Vice President of Global Security Strategies of GRISOFT. ”This allows for reduction in total cost of ownership. AVG for Linux and FreeBSD editions complement this strategy, while making sure the heterogeneous environment remains secure without impacting the system resources.”

AVG Email Server Edition 7.5 for Linux/FreeBSD includes improvements like integrated anti-spam and faster e-mail scanning. Integration of antivirus and anti-spam reduces the strain on the email server and improves user efficiency by eliminating the number of unsolicited e-mails.

AVG File Server Edition 7.5 for Linux/FreeBSD offers antivirus protection of data stored on file servers in a heterogeneous environment. Scanning files from the server frees resources on the workstations and makes common computing tasks more efficient.

AVG Anti-Virus Professional Edition 7.5 for Linux/FreeBSD offers professional antivirus protection for workstations running alternative operating systems.

AVG security products for GNU/Linux and FreeBSD even provide high performance on older PCs and servers because of their minimal hardware requirements such as Intel Pentium 200 MHz and 256 MB of system memory. Installation packages of new AVG products are available for FreeBSD and most Linux distributions including RedHat, Suse, Debian and Mandriva.
