FAQ

It is possible that the AVG license number was not entered correctly. Please compare the license key you have entered with the one you have received from us. However, we recommend you to use the Copy & Paste method to insert your license number correctly, as this will avoid mistakes.

The license number is sent to the e-mail address used in the registration form immediately after the registration process. If you didn't receive any e-mail, there are several possible reasons:

• the e-mail has not been sent, the registration process has not completed correctly
  Please try to register once again on this page
  
• you are using some spam filter
  The e-mail has been probably filtered by an anti-spam control on your computer or on the mail server. Please contact your system administrator to solve this.
  
• e-mail address has not been entered correctly
  Your e-mail address has not been entered correctly into the registration form so it is not possible to deliver the e-mail. In this case please contact our sales department using this sales support form. Thank you.

If the end of the license period is approaching, and you have received your new license number, please follow these steps to extend the license period:

• launch the AVG Control Center (double-click on the AVG icon in the systray)
• choose the Activate AVG option in the Information menu
• enter your new license number into the next dialogue

To enter the license number correctly we recommend you to use the Copy & Paste method.

1. Uninstall AVG from the old computer

• click on the Start > (Settings) > Control Panel
• use double click on the icon of "Add or remove programs"
• wait please until all installed programs are displayed
• find AVG application and select it by one click
• click on the "Remove" / "Uninstall" button to start uninstallation

2. On your new computer please download the latest installation file from our website:

AVG Anti-Virus

AVG Internet Security
AVG Anti-Malware
AVG Anti-Virus plus Firewall
AVG Anti-Spyware

When you are prompted, please do not open this file directly from the Internet, but click "Save" button and choose location where installation file should be stored. We recommend saving the file to the Desktop.

3. Reboot your computer.

4. Locate the downloaded AVG installation file (it has a four color square icon and its name starts with AVG75...) and launch the installation by double-clicking on it.

5. Follow the installation wizard.

6. Enter your license number when you are asked (we recommend that you use copy&paste method to enter this license number into the installation form).

7. Follow and finish the wizard.

8. If AVG asks you for a computer restart, please do so.

This warning is displayed, because you previously had installed a version of AVG with one of these components: AVG Firewall, Anti-Spyware or Anti-Spam. Since then, you have activated AVG with a license number which does not support the specified component (but this component has not been uninstalled from your computer).
To solve this problem we recommend that you either activate AVG with a license number which supports this component (1) or uninstall these components (2).

1. You can active AVG with another license number as follows:

- launch AVG
- choose the "Information" menu
- click on the "Activate AVG" option
- enter your correct AVG license number into the last textbox
- confirm by clicking on the "Activate" button


2. You can uninstall any of not supported AVG component as follows:

- download the latest AVG installation file for particular edition from this website
- run the downloaded file and choose the third option - "Uninstall"
- restart your computer
- run the downloaded file again and install AVG using your existing license number

The license number can be found in AVG (all editions excluding AVG Anti-Spyware) and copied as follows:

• Run AVG Control Center.
• In AVG Control Center select License.
• Your AVG License Number is shown in the lower part of the screen in AVG Control Center.
• Use the Copy button to store the license number to the clipboard.
  
• Then enter the number into the text field using CTRL+V shortcut, or right-click into the text filed and select Paste.

Note: In case of rewriting this license number manually, please be careful to not confuse "1" (one) and "I" (India), "5" (five) and "S" (Sierra), "8" (eight) and "B" (Bravo).
Signs "0" (zero) and "O" (Oscar) are not significant, both can be used.

In AVG Anti-Spyware, please proceed as follows:

• Right-click on AVG Anti-Spyware icon in System Tray and select Information.
• Your AVG License Number is shown.
• Click on the License Number and select Copy to Clipboard to copy it to the clipboard.
  
• Then enter the number into the text field using CTRL+V shortcut, or right-click into the text filed and select Paste.

*Except AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5, for which support will end on December 31, 2008.
