Your product: Rescue CD (8.5 version)

A.  If you are installing AVG for the first time please do the following:

The AVG Rescue CD is distributed in two different variations:

  1. Standalone AVG Rescue CD
This CD can be obtained from AVG’s online shop, your local AVG distributor or any other way.
  2. Downloadable version of AVG Rescue CD (165MB)
This version can be downloaded as a RAR archive and burned to CD by yourself. In such a case, you need to download the AVG Rescue CD 8.5 RAR archive and AVG Rescue CD 8.5 Creator (MakeCD utility) from our website.

B. Please note the following steps for activating your AVG Rescue CD License. You have two options how to proceed:

  1. Create a brand new AVG Rescue CD using the downloaded RAR archive, AVG Rescue CD Creator (MakeCD utility) and your unique License File (avgelc.dat). Run the AVG Rescue CD Creator Utility and follow these simple steps:
    • select the location of the downloaded RAR archive
    • select the location of the License File
    • select the output folder, where the ISO image will be created
Once all options are set, click on the „Create ISO“ button. The ISO file with AVG Rescue CD will be created in a short time. Finally, burn a new AVG Rescue CD from the created ISO image file using your favorite CD burning software.
Note: If you only have the standalone AVG Rescue CD, you can still create a personalized version. On each AVG Rescue CD there are also distributed the RAR archive and AVG Rescue CD creator utility (located in the subdirectory \PROGRAMS\MAKECD\MakeCD.exe), so you can easily proceed to create an additional AVG Rescue CD.
  2. If you already have the AVG Rescue CD (standalone CD), and you do not want to create a new one, put the avgelc.dat file onto a removable device (floppy disk, USB flash disk, etc.), restart the computer you are going to repair and boot from the AVG Rescue CD. Once the AVG Rescue CD has started, a notification dialog will be displayed asking for the path to the avgelc.dat license file.
Note: Make sure, that the drive you put the avgelc.dat file on, will be accessible from the computer on which you are booting with the AVG Rescue CD. If the USB flash disk is used, please make sure it is plugged in before the computer starts.
